We start the week with an evening in Venice so it's a good idea to arrive early on Saturday to absorb the atmosphere of this great city. A fairly flat first day of 79 miles finishing at the University town of Ferrara before heading into the Apennines. The 35km climb Passo della Raticosa with a maximum gradient of 9% is the undoubted highlight of these mountains (average gradient 4%) although the views from the top and the steep descent afterwards are pretty special. We then visit a string of celebrated mediavel Tuscan cities as we breeze our way across this beautiful land before a fairly quiet final day following the river into the majestic city of Florence to celebrate the week.
